Tommy Bung Bung (Polkinghorne), whose skin name is Jungari, was born in the West Kimberley, near Derby, Western Australia and calls Dingo Springs home. His mother was ‘Gidja’ and father ‘Jaru’. His father worked on stations around Derby but his rightful country extends from Halls Creek to Warmun in the central Kimberley. Tommy, his wife Theresa and children live at Dingo Springs near Lake Argyle in his wife’s country who is ‘Mirrawoong’. Tommy earns his living mainly through his art, carving slates and boab nuts. He has also been successful with printmaking, winning category prizes in both the Kununurra Art Show and the Marene Bruce Prize, Derby.
