Born in 1942 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Heather Walker is part of the Koinjmal language group. Her versatile practice spans linocuts, ceramics, and textiles, often drawing inspiration from Cape York rock art. She studied at the North Queensland Art Centre for Aborigines and Islanders, and her work frequently depicts human figures, spirits, plants, and animals. Walker’s art is held in major collections such as the National Gallery of Australia (NGA), National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), and the National Library of Australia, making her a key figure in Australian Indigenous art.
