Known for her stunning depictions of Tjulpun-tjulpunpa (Desert Wildflowers), Kathy Maringka's art is celebrated for its vibrant, abstract designs. Drawing inspiration from the traditional landscapes of Fregon on the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands, her use of bold colours and intricate patterns reflects the energy and beauty of the desert environment.

Born in Ernabella, South Australia, in 1954, Kathy Maringka has become a renowned artist whose works have been exhibited both in Australia and internationally. Her signature piece, Desert Wildflowers —‘Tjulpuntjulpunpa’, captures the essence of her country’s flora. She is recognised in Dr. Diana James' 2009 book, Painting the Song: Kaltjiti Artists of the Sand Dune Country . Kathy's work has been featured in the Peter Bailie Art Award and can be found in various public and private collections, including Public Service Commission collections.
