Product Details

"Karntakurlangu Jukurrpa 2001" is a striking limited edition silkscreen by renowned Aboriginal artist Dorothy Napangardi. Translating to "belonging to women," this print captures the essence of the sacred women's site, Mina Mina, in Napangardi's traditional country. This work, one of her first prints, sparked a lifelong passion for printmaking that she explored throughout her career.

Mina Mina, characterised by two vast soakage areas, often appears as dry clay-pans delineated by salt crustations when the water recedes. In this artwork, Napangardi employs her signature white dotting technique to depict the salt formations stretching infinitely across the landscape. The intricate design also represents the tracks of ancestral women as their paths cross and merge, telling timeless stories of movement and ritual.

This limited edition silkscreen, with only 50 copies, measures 67 x 102 cm in image size and 80 x 120 cm in paper size. Printed on Arches Cover (White) by Simon White at Northern Editions Studio in Darwin, this piece is a testament to Napangardi's ability to blend traditional Aboriginal Dreaming stories with modern artistic techniques. Published by Gallery Gondwana, it remains a significant work in Napangardi's acclaimed body of art
