Talking about this painting, Mitjili says that Marruwa is west of Janyinki and is a soakage. It is not the same place as the Marruwa on the south west side of the lake that Walala and Walimpirri call home. The Marruwa that Mitjili talks about is east of Mina Mina.
Mitjili is depicting the tracks of family moving between sites around the Marruwa area and telling the story of people, including Mitjili’s father, camping on their travels to where Kiwirrkurra community is today. They had to walk over many sandhills on foot.
