Mulgnin 2008 by Mignonette Jamin is painted in natural ochres and pigments from the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Known for her paintings that have a powerful composition and vibrant immediacy.

At the centre of this image of traditional country is a hill. Small waterfall creeks flow from the hills during the wet season. In the upper left is some break away rock from the hillside. The surrounding country is dotted with spinifex clumps called Mulgnin.

Mignonette, born in 1932-2010, was a respected law woman who painted her traditional country - the rivers and billabongs, coastal areas, the hills, rocky ridges, roads and other land marks as well as sites significant to women's business which belonged to her deaming country at Majalindy.
