Product Details

Dorothy Napangardi's limited edition etching "Salt on Mina Mina, 2006" showcases her signature style with a striking black dotting design set against a white background. Napangardi described this artwork as reflecting the soft, gentle movements of walking like a Bilby, the totem ancestor of the salt lakes where she was born.

This etching is a testament to Napangardi's evolving artistic expression, centered around the sacred site of Mina Mina in the remote Tanami Desert. As the custodial owner of this land, she draws inspiration from its vast soakage areas and sandhills, where she and her aunts (Napanangkas) perform rituals of dance and song as part of their Jukurrpa, or Dreaming, traditions.

Produced at The National Art School in Sydney and printed by Belinda Fox in Melbourne, this limited edition etching is part of a run of 40 pieces. The image size is 44 x 44 cm, with the paper measuring 57 x 78 cm. Published by Gallery Gondwana, this print represents Napangardi's unique ability to merge traditional Aboriginal storytelling with modern techniques.

Each purchase includes a complimentary copy of the book Honouring and Remembering the Art and Life of Dorothy Napangardi , offering deeper insight into her extraordinary legacy.
