"The paint story" by Veronica Turner is a colourful panel covered in both traditional Eastern Arrernte and English writing, inviting the viewer to navigate and explore.
Artist Statement: 'I feel really happy doing art and sharing stories with everyone. We paint for others to see....
I was born in 1969 and grew up at Santa Teresa which is about 80 kms south-east from Alice Springs. I went to primary school there and finished my higher education at Victoria. I have a diploma in translating and interpreting and I now teach in Arrernte schools in Alice Springs. I have worked also as a tour guide at the Alice Springs Desert Park and I paint with my family whenever I have the time. My mother (Margaret Kemarre Turner, OAM) and sisters are well-known artists. I used to watch them and longed to tell my stories so I started at Irrkerlantye Arts. I enjoy my paintings and also like print making and ceramics, it's interesting to work with clay and then decoratethe work with my own painting.'
