Born around 1980, Janelle was the granddaughter of Billy Stockman Tjapaltjarri, a founding member of the early Papunya Tula artists. Although her career was tragically cut short by her untimely death in 2009, Janelle left a lasting impact with her contemporary and inspirational style.
Janelle began painting in 2001 and her unique contemporary style set her apart, with subjects including Country, Fire Sparks, Dancing Bird Spirits, Sand Hills, Thirsty Lands, Bush Flowers, Imuna (Bush Food), Landscapes, and Awelye (Women's Ceremony). Janelle’s works are known for their boldness and vibrancy, capturing the essence of the Central Australian landscape.
