"Tingari Cycle 2005" by Ronnie Allan Tjapaltjarri, a senior Pitjantjatjara man and respected elder from the Northern Territory community of Kaltukatjara (Docker River).

Born circa 1939, Ronnie is a key artist within his community and is known for his innovative variations on traditional carving forms. His work has been showcased in prestigious venues such as the SOFA exhibition in Chicago, USA, and is represented in the Museum of South Australia in Adelaide and the Art Gallery of NSW. He has gained recognition as a painter and was a finalist in the 2023 Sir John Sulman Prize.onnie paints for his community, the Papunya Tula, and the Maruku communities, as well as for independent art dealers.

His artistic inspiration comes from his rich cultural heritage and documentaries he views. As a self-taught artist, Ronnie's paintings depict several tjukurpa (dreaming) stories, including tingarri (ceremony), mulga seed, maku (witchetty grub), and tjala (honey ant). Additionally, he creates unique fusions of tjukurpa with Pentecostal imagery, illustrating gatherings of Yarnangu and Western people participating in ceremonial dances, religious worship, and moral discussions.

As a Lutheran pastor, Ronnie's work visualises the relationship between Yarnangu and Christian belief systems, influenced by Christian missionaries. His art celebrates the merging of these worlds, emphasising community and faith. Through his paintings, Ronnie highlights the interplay between Yarnangu and Christian spirituality as an integral aspect of his community's history and identity. His achievements include being a Churchie Art Prize Finalist at the Institute of Modern Art in Brisbane.
