This is the artist’s country which is associated with rainmaking ceremonies. The central motif is the lake with smaller waterholes on the periphery.
The late Fred Tjakamarra is a senior Law Man, born and living a traditional lifestyle in Warlpiri country, north of Lake Mackay, south of the Balgo Hills community, a region stretching across the borders of the Northern Territory and Western Australia. Producing a body of work whose subject matter include Wati Kutjarra (Two Men Dreaming), Karnaputta (Women’s Law), Water and Rainmaking, Tingari Cycle, Rainbow Snakes, Waringarri and Lappi Lappi (for etchings).
